AYPH research summary on adolescent substance use

AYPH reportThis research summary produced by the Association for Young People’s Health (AYPH) shows recent trends of Alcohol and Drug use among teenagers in the UK.

Key statistics:

  • Among school pupils aged 11-15, 57% do not drink and 10% report that they drank in the last week;
  • Over a quarter of 15 year olds report drinking in the previous week;
  • Approximately a quarter of 15 year olds report having been drunk at least twice in their lives;
  • In 2011, 26% of 13-15 year old males and 21% of females reported some experimentation with illegal drugs.
